WHAT WE BELIEVE
St Peters Anglican Church is a reformed evangelical Sydney Anglican Church. You can find a more comprehensive outline of our doctrinal beliefs here.
OUR KING
Love for Jesus
God’s love for us is most clearly displayed in the person of Christ who loved us and died for us. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead and is now enthroned as King. We love Jesus because he first loved us.
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13–14
OUR BASIS
Love for God’s Word
God is not silent, but he has spoken and revealed himself to us. The basis for our knowledge of his character and purposes for us in the Bible. We believe the Bible is true, accessible, effective and sufficient for all people.
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Colossians 3:16
OUR COMMUNITY
Love for God’s People
God has not called us to live alone as Christians but has saved us into a family. Sometimes this is easy and a wonderful joy as we know and love one another. Sometimes it is tough and requires patience and grace. God has equipped his people to serve and be an expression of his glory.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Colossians 3:12
OUR MISSION
Love for God’s World
God loves his world and all the people in it. As his children we aim to love the world, most importantly by letting them know the good news of Jesus as Saviour and King. This is the mission we are equipped for and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
